Our standards

Hazardous substances

The European Union (EU) has established globally recognised standards for evaluating and/or restricting the use of chemicals and hazardous substances – the Conformitè Europëenne (CE) Directives for RoHS and REACH:

  • RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances) which restricts the use of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment, i.e., prohibits the use of lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyls (PBBs), and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs); and
  • REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorisation and Restriction of Chemicals) which addresses the production and use of chemical substances, and their potential impacts on both human health and the environment.

Australia does not (currently) have established standards equivalent to RoHS or REACH. In lieu of an equivalent Australian Standard, the EU standards should be considered as the benchmark.

All Liber products are tested and certified compliant with the EU’s Conformitè Europëenne (CE) Directives for RoHS and REACH.
